Toutiao's inaugural platform governance open day: actively exploring AI content governance

On February 24, the platform governance open day event was held in Beijing. Relevant business leaders shared the measures, achievements, and planning of Toutiao in three aspects: positive communication, platform security, and content ecology. Since 2023, the platform has adhered to the concept of "spreading true information" and taken "hard-core science popularization" as the main direction of communication. It has launched the "Toutiao Talks About the Truth" project, which has released more than 36 billion views on the theme of science popularization and debunking. It has become an important part of the health and high-quality content ecology of Toutiao. In terms of safe operation, in recent years, Toutiao has established a complete "risk discovery → risk identification → risk disposal" full-process governance system, adhering to the principle of "early identification, multiple interception, multiple prompts, and rapid intervention", and has increased the governance intensity of the same content publishing, network fraud, and water army. For false rumors, Toutiao has established three core governance capabilities early, including rumor library, authoritative source library, and professional review team. In 2024, it added authoritative media source labels under the published content to provide users with more objective perspectives while ensuring the authenticity of information. In response to the rapid development of AI technology and the emergence of low-quality content in recent years, the platform encourages users to use AI to improve efficiency while protecting original space and upgrading and iterating the identification capabilities of AI models in a timely manner to tighten the review of AI content. It is reported that this is the first time Toutiao has held a platform governance open day. Earlier, Toutiao released the "2024 Annual Governance Report", which publicly announced the governance results of the platform against key specialties such as network false rumors, same content publishing, network fraud, bottom-line chasing of traffic, and water army in the past year. The report shows that the platform has intercepted more than 5 million untrue information, more than 930,000 low-quality AI content, and punished more than 7.81 million same content publishing. It has intercepted and disposed of more than 2 million suspected fraudulent content. It is known that in the future, Toutiao will continue to focus on platform security and ecological governance to create a clear and healthy Internet environment for society and users.
