TotalEnergies has partnered with Japanese firms Osaka Gas, Toho Gas, and ITOCHU to develop the Live Oak project in Nebraska, a facility to produce electric natural gas (e-NG) from renewable hydrogen and CO2. The project, which is subject to a Final Investment Decision in 2027, will begin commercial operations by 2030 and export e-NG to Japan, helping Japanese gas majors achieve their goal of injecting 1% carbon neutral gas into the grid by 2030. TotalEnergies will have a 33.35% stake in the project, with TES holding the same percentage.
