Torrid, a plus-size clothing retailer, closed over 150 stores nationwide in 2025 due to "deliberate strategic decisions" to get the business back on track. The closures were part of the company's efforts to reduce fixed costs and reinvest in areas that drive long-term growth. Torrid CEO Lisa Harper said the closures were the result of a "fundamentally restructured" product assortment and the launch of five sub-brands. The company now has 560 stores.
