Top-selling smartphones globally in Q3: Samsung takes the top five with a slight decline in Apple's (AAPL.US) numbers
Counterpoint Research released the top 10 best-selling devices in the global smartphone market in Q3 2024 on December 5. Apple (AAPL.US) saw a slight decrease in the number of its positions in the top 10 list as the share of other phone brands increased. Samsung alone took five positions in the list, and the Galaxy-S series returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2018 in the September quarter. The continued marketing around GenAI features helped maintain demand. The iPhone 15 accounted for 3% of the entire smartphone market, followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max narrowed the gap with the iPhone 15 as consumers opted for better cameras and screens, and incentives and trade-in programs made upgrading easier. Xiaomi's Redmi 13C remained in the top 10 for two consecutive quarters, replicating the success of its predecessor, the Redmi 12C.
