A recent visualization from Visual Capitalist [1] reveals that a growing number of companies are holding billions of dollars' worth of Bitcoin on their balance sheets. By July 31, 2025, companies like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) and MARA Holdings are among the top holders, underscoring the strategic value of Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and currency devaluation.
Strategy, with nearly 629,000 Bitcoin worth over $70 billion, holds more than all other public companies combined. Since 2020, the company has consistently doubled down on its Bitcoin strategy, turning itself into a proxy for Bitcoin exposure in public markets. In early 2025, Strategy rebranded with a new stylized "B" logo and orange color scheme, signaling its evolution from a software provider into the world’s largest Bitcoin treasury company.
In addition to these prominent companies, a Dutch firm, Amdax, has announced plans to launch a Bitcoin-focused treasury company, AMBTS B.V., with the goal of acquiring 1% of the total Bitcoin supply—approximately 210,000 BTC. AMBTS aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency market, aligning with growing European institutional adoption [2].
These developments reflect a broader trend of institutional Bitcoin treasuries maturing. According to data from BitcoinTreasuries.net, over 163 global firms now hold Bitcoin, with 81 owning more than 100 BTC. Collectively, these entities hold around 978,290 BTC, valued at approximately $113.9 billion [2].
Meanwhile, companies are also leveraging stablecoins for faster and more cost-effective fiat transfers. Nuvei, a global money movement platform, has expanded its capabilities to include stablecoin rails, enabling faster and more cost-effective payouts to bank accounts worldwide, including in emerging markets [3]. This development supports a wide range of use cases, from intra-company transfers to third-party payouts for vendors, payroll, and remittances.
These trends suggest that Bitcoin and stablecoins are becoming increasingly recognized as legitimate components of corporate and institutional balance sheets. As more companies adopt these digital assets, the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve and gain acceptance within the broader financial landscape.
