TON Builders Deny Telegram Ties Despite Crypto Success
TON builders have revealed that there is "zero relationship" with Telegram, despite the Open Network (TON) being integrated with Telegram games and crypto integrations. TON has seen significant success with apps like NOTcoin, which has traded over $1 billion in volume since its launch. However, the games on TON are still in their early stages, and the tokens launched via TON and Telegram do not have much staying power.
Ivan Gusev, head of fun at TON NFT marketplace Getgems, and Jack Booth, co-founder of TON Society, both expressed that TON builders have no relationship with Telegram. They noted that Telegram operates in chaos and does not inform TON builders of its plans. Despite this, they believe that keeping TON tied to Telegram is the best move due to Telegram's large user base, many of whom are interested in crypto.
Booth sees 2025 as a potential year for more favorable US regulation, which could mean the Telegram Wallet may become available in the US "very soon." However, the future of the TON ecosystem remains uncertain, and it will be interesting to see how the games and tokens launched via TON and Telegram evolve in the coming years.
