Officials made adequate arrangements to ensure the safety of lakhs of people.

The Tamil Nadu government has hailed the successful conduct of the Kumbabishekam of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple after a 16-year hiatus as a testament to the "Dravidian Model government's" efforts to maintain law and order. The event, which took place on July 7, 2025, was conducted peacefully, unlike the Kumbh Mela, where many people lost their lives and devotees faced numerous difficulties at railway stations [1].

The government attributed the smooth execution of the event to the meticulous planning and arrangements made by the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and his administration. "The Chief Minister, Ministers including HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekar Babu, and officials have proved to be excellent organisers who ensured the safety of lakhs of people," the government stated [1].

The government also highlighted the extensive safety measures put in place, including the provision of sufficient buses and other facilities to assist devotees in visiting Tiruchendur and returning safely. This commitment to ensuring the well-being of the devotees underscores the Tamil Nadu government's dedication to maintaining order and public safety.

The successful Kumbabishekam comes amid a political landscape where the AIADMK, led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, has formed an alliance with the BJP, with the AIADMK set to lead the alliance. Palaniswami has emphasized that his party will be the leader in this alliance and has ruled out the possibility of a coalition government if the alliance wins the 2026 Assembly polls [2].

The AIADMK has also kicked off a state-wide election tour from July 7, 2025, in Coimbatore, inviting all parties and individuals who wish to oust the DMK from power to join the alliance. This move signals a strategic shift in the political dynamics of Tamil Nadu, with the AIADMK positioning itself as a unifying force against the DMK.
