Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has urged the public to avoid unnecessary debates and focus on fulfilling the dreams of late Congress leader K. Kamaraj, who dedicated his life to social justice, secularism, and communal harmony. Stalin made these remarks in response to a recent controversy sparked by a comment from DMK deputy general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi N. Siva on Kamaraj. Stalin emphasized that Kamaraj's dignity should be preserved and that it is not fair to have unnecessary debates about such a great leader.

Stalin's call for unity comes amidst the backdrop of preparations for the 2026 assembly elections, where the DMK alliance is gearing up to challenge the AIADMK-BJP alliance. At an event in Chidambaram, Stalin unveiled a statue of former Congress leader L. Elayaperumal and launched the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme, a special initiative to deliver government services to the people in their own locality. The scheme involves organizing at least 10,000 special camps across the state, with over one lakh officers or volunteers interacting and resolving issues concerning the general public.

The 'Ungaludan Stalin' programme is an extension of the 'Mudhalvarin Mugavari' programme launched in 2021, through which over 1.05 crore petitions were received. As of June 30, 2025, 1.01 crore petitions had been disposed of. The Makkaludan Mudhalvar programme, launched in 2023, received 9.05 lakh petitions in urban areas and 12.81 lakh in rural areas. The new scheme aims to benefit those who are not in town or are unaware of these camps.

In his social media post, Stalin also expressed his gratitude for Kamaraj's blessings at his wedding, stating that despite Kamaraj's ill health, he attended the event. Stalin's remarks were aimed at putting an end to the controversy triggered by Tiruchi N. Siva's comment on Kamaraj, emphasizing that Kamaraj's legacy should not be tarnished by political debates.
