Thrive Capital and Andreessen to lead $4 billion Anduril round

Anduril Secures $450 Million Series D Funding Led by Elad Gil and Andreessen Horowitz

Irvine-based defense technology company Anduril has raised $450 million in a Series D funding round, valuing the firm at $4.6 billion, nearly double its previous $1.9 billion valuation from July 2024. The round was led by Elad Gil, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, 8VC, Founders Fund, and General Catalyst, among others. This brings Anduril's total venture capital funding to $691 million to date.

The capital will accelerate expansion of the company's sensor and drone technologies, including its Lattice AI platform, which is deployed on U.S. and international military bases to detect and neutralize drone and vehicle threats. Anduril also plans to grow its corporate footprint, having recently established offices in Boston, Seattle, London, and Orange County.

Anduril's technology is integrated into operations for the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and the U.K. Ministry of Defence. The company emphasizes leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous systems to enhance defense capabilities.

This funding follows a broader trend of increased investment in defense-tech and AI, as highlighted in recent industry reports. However, the round's valuation remains significantly lower than the $134 billion valuation recently reported for AI-focused firm Databricks, which raised $4 billion in separate financing.

Anduril continues to scale its workforce, with over 2,100 employees at its new corporate headquarters and open roles across engineering, operations, and sales. The latest raise underscores persistent investor confidence in defense innovation amid evolving geopolitical and technological challenges.
