TSLA--
The Model Y Performance, priced at around £61,990 ($83,560) in the UK, offers an estimated 308 miles of range under the EPA cycle, just 1% less than the Long Range version [1]. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, an improvement from the prior iteration, and features a 16-inch QHD touchscreen, the highest-resolution infotainment screen Tesla has ever offered [1]. The vehicle also includes new drive modes designed for high-speed performance and a staggered wheel and tire setup to enhance grip and steering.
Tesla has not yet announced a launch timeline for the US or other markets, but deliveries in Europe are scheduled to begin in September [1]. The Model Y Performance will be built at Tesla's Brandenburg factory near Berlin and will compete with other high-end electric crossovers such as the BMW iX, Audi Q4 e-tron, and Cadillac Lyriq [2].
The introduction of the Model Y Performance comes amidst a challenging market environment. Sales across the EU, the European Free Trade Association, and the UK fell 40% in July from a year earlier, to 8,837 vehicles [1]. Despite this, the new variant is expected to attract performance-oriented consumers seeking a premium electric crossover.
