Tesla has officially launched its "Actually Smart Summon" (ASS) feature in China, compatible with vehicles equipped with Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) or Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities. This new functionality enhances Tesla's automation capabilities, allowing the vehicle to autonomously navigate from various parking positions — lateral, perpendicular, or diagonal — summoned remotely via a mobile app by the owner.

The ASS feature is accessible to vehicles sporting firmware version 2024.44.100 or newer, and future models will be eligible for over-the-air (OTA) software updates to enable this functionality. It's imperative for Tesla owners to ensure their vehicle is equipped with the necessary hardware, such as the HW3.0 or AI4 chip, and to update the Tesla mobile app to version 4.38.0 or later to utilize these features.

As part of an initiative to entice owners to upgrade, Tesla offers a complimentary 90-day EAP trial for customers who trade in their old vehicles for new Teslas. The company advises that the ASS feature is best used in well-lit, non-public road environments with strong mobile signals to avoid any disruptions in vehicle performance.

The deployment of ASS marks a significant step forward in Tesla's autonomous driving technology, underscoring the company's commitment to providing cutting-edge features that enhance user convenience. With this new feature, Tesla continues to lead the charge in advancing vehicle automation, strengthening its foothold in the competitive landscape of self-driving technology. The ongoing software improvements and hardware requirements underscore Tesla's dedication to innovation while ensuring that its customers have access to the latest advancements in vehicle automation.
