Tesla Reinforces Commitment to Data Security Amid National Compliance Concerns
On the evening of October 16, Grace Tao, Tesla's Vice President of External Affairs, emphasized on social media that compliance is the foundation of business operations. She stated, "Tesla firmly believes that smart compliance is the key to sustainable development. Our goal is to provide consumers with safe and reliable products and excellent, stable services."
Recent concerns have arisen around illegal mapping activities by certain foreign organizations, which have partnered with domestic firms under the guise of project collaboration to evade regulation. These activities threaten national security by illicitly collecting China's original mapping data.
In light of regulatory developments, Tesla confirmed its adherence to national vehicle data security standards, which align with recent guidelines for secure handling of automotive data. This compliance facilitates the removal of operational restrictions in sensitive areas, reassuring Tesla owners regarding data security.
Taking a proactive approach, Tesla established a data center in Shanghai in 2021 to ensure the localization of data storage, underscoring its commitment to regulatory adherence and consumer trust.
