TSLA--

On March 21, TeslaTSLA-- officially announced the first export of its Megapack energy storage systems produced at the Tesla Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory. These units will be shipped from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port to Australia. Following this initial export, the Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory will continue to serve both domestic and Asia-Pacific markets.

Earlier in the year, on February 11, Tesla held the official launch ceremony of its Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory at Lingang in Shanghai. The rollout marked the production of the first Megapack, a large-scale commercial electrochemical energy storage system, from the factory. Notably, this facility is Tesla's first energy storage factory outside the United States.

The Megapack is one of Tesla's leading electrochemical energy storage products, commonly utilized for stabilizing power grids and integrating renewable energy in utility-scale and large commercial projects. As of now, the Megapack has established its presence across more than 65 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Tesla has shared that the Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory is planned to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 Megapacks, equating to an energy storage capability of nearly 40 GWh. The ramp-up of production capacity is scheduled to start in the first quarter. Tesla now operates two energy storage gigafactories, one in Lathrop, USA, and the other in Shanghai, with a combined projected annual production capacity of 80 GWh, sufficient to provide power for 10 million households for a year.
