Telefónica, Nokia, and UPV Demonstrate Success of 6 GHz Band for Mobile Communications in Pilot Project
Telefónica, Nokia, and the Polytechnic University of Valencia have conducted a pilot project utilizing the upper part of the 6 GHz band (6,425-7,125 GHz) for mobile communications. This band is considered key for future digital connectivity in Europe and next-generation services. The project used state-of-the-art equipment, including an active antenna with massive MIMO capabilities from Nokia, and demonstrated that the band can provide coverage similar to the 3.5 GHz band, with significant increases in traffic density and network performance. The trial reinforces the companies' commitment to developing technology for the benefit of the economy and society in Spain and Europe.
