Telco Providers Face Competitive Threat as Demand for Satellite Services Grows

A report by Viasat and GSMA Intelligence found that 60% of consumers globally are willing to pay extra for satellite-enabled services on their smartphones, with the highest willingness to pay in India at 9%. The report also found that nearly half of consumers would switch to a different operator if they offered satellite services outside of coverage areas. Telcos that do not offer satellite services may face market share erosion. The report highlights the need for telcos to balance marketing efforts with the limitations of satellite services in different markets.
