Teamsters Union Backs Chavez-DeRemer for Labor Secretary

The Teamsters Union has thrown its weight behind the nomination of former Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor. In a statement released on Nov. 22, the union praised Chavez-DeRemer's pro-labor record and her commitment to protecting workers' rights.
"As the daughter of a Teamster, Lori Chavez-DeRemer knows the importance of carrying a union card and what it means to grow up in a middle-class household," said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. "Working people need someone with her experience leading the agency that is tasked with protecting workers, creating good union jobs, and rebuilding our nation’s middle class. The Teamsters are grateful to President Trump for putting American workers first by nominating Rep. Chavez-DeRemer to this important role."
During her time in Congress, Rep. Chavez-DeRemer stood up for UPS workers’ right to strike, worked to protect the right to organize, and fought to keep American jobs from being shipped overseas. The Teamsters Union believes that her record makes her an excellent choice for Secretary of Labor and urges the Senate to confirm her swiftly and with strong bipartisan support.
