Dolby Laboratories and TCL have announced support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect in TCL's 2025 QD-Mini LED TVs, including the QM8K, QM7K, and QM6K models. The feature allows for customizable Dolby Atmos sound experiences in any room layout or speaker configuration. TCL will also introduce the Z100 smart speaker, designed to pair with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect-enabled TVs for a panoramic sound experience.

San Francisco, May 27, 2025 — Dolby Laboratories and TCL Electronics have announced a significant partnership, integrating Dolby Atmos FlexConnect into TCL's 2025 QD-Mini LED TVs, including the QM8K, QM7K, and QM6K models. This feature aims to provide consumers with a customizable Dolby Atmos sound experience, regardless of room layout or speaker configuration.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to allow users to place wireless speakers anywhere in a room without compromising sound quality. This technology optimizes the Dolby Atmos rendering of each speaker and the TV, ensuring a tailored and immersive audio experience. The feature is particularly beneficial for consumers seeking a premium audio experience but facing constraints due to room size, outlet locations, or aesthetic considerations.

In addition to the TV integration, TCL will introduce the Z100 smart speaker, designed to pair with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect-enabled TVs. This speaker system is expected to enhance the panoramic sound experience by allowing up to four Z100 speakers to work alongside the TV speakers. The launch of the Z100 smart speaker is scheduled for this summer.

John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, commented on the partnership, stating, "The launch of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect across TCL's Precise Dimming Series marks a new chapter of personalized home audio experiences. With Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, consumers can unlock even more flexibility and adaptability in how they design their home entertainment systems, while removing the stress of whether their speakers are in the right location to get an incredible Dolby Atmos experience."

Chris Hamdorf, Executive Vice President at TCL North America, added, "TCL and Dolby share a long history of redefining home entertainment. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect empowers customers to enjoy a premium immersive audio experience that's tailored to their unique preferences and spaces."

The announcement follows the explosive growth of Dolby Atmos content globally. According to Dolby Laboratories, 98 of the top 100 box office titles from the past five years were in Dolby Atmos, with all major Hollywood studios releasing their latest films in Dolby Atmos for both theatrical and home distribution. Additionally, Dolby Atmos is supported across major global streamers, with 100+ streaming and PayTV services worldwide releasing their most watched movies and shows in Dolby Atmos. The technology has also gained significant traction in the music and gaming industries, with 93% of Billboard's 2024 Year End Top 100 Artists releasing music in Dolby Atmos and gamers enjoying their favorite games in Dolby Atmos across two of the world's most popular game consoles.
