Tata Digital to name Sajith Sivanandan as new CEO: ET

Tata Digital, the e-commerce and digital services arm of the Tata Group, has announced the appointment of Sajith Sivanandan as its new CEO. The move comes after the exit of Naveen Tahilyani earlier this year and is part of a broader restructuring of leadership roles and strategy within Tata Digital [1].

Sivanandan, a former Google executive, led the tech giant’s payments and Next Billion Users initiatives in India and Asia-Pacific. His extensive experience in scaling consumer internet businesses makes him a strong fit for the role. He is currently serving as president of Jio Mobile Digital Services and will take over the top job at Tata Digital in the coming weeks.

The appointment underscores the Tata Group’s intent to steady its digital bets following multiple strategy pivots and top-level exits. Sivanandan’s mandate includes sharpening Tata Digital’s play across e-commerce, quick commerce, and digital services, where it competes with established players such as Amazon, Walmart-owned Flipkart, and Reliance.

The Tata Group has not responded to queries regarding the appointment as of the publication date. The appointment of Sajith Sivanandan is expected to bring a fresh perspective and strategic direction to Tata Digital, positioning it to better compete in the increasingly crowded digital market.
