Tata Communications Partners with AWS to Deploy AI-Ready Network Across India

Tata Communications has partnered with AWS to build an AI-led network across India, involving a ₹430 crore capital investment. The new network will connect AWS infrastructure in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, providing low-latency, high-bandwidth connections for businesses to build, train, and deploy AI applications. The infrastructure is designed to support data-intensive workloads like 5G, generative AI, and high-performance computing.

Tata Communications, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to establish an advanced AI-ready network across India. The project, which involves a capital investment of about ₹430 crore from Tata Communications, is expected to be completed by the end of FY26 [2]. This collaboration aims to create a robust infrastructure backbone for AI and machine learning (ML) workloads, connecting AWS data center regions in Mumbai and Hyderabad with the company's Edge Network infrastructure in Chennai.

The new network will feature high-capacity, low-latency connections, enabling businesses to build, train, and deploy scalable AI applications. The infrastructure is designed to support data-intensive workloads such as 5G, generative AI, and high-performance computing. This collaboration will further enable AWS customers in India to innovate at scale with cloud and generative AI, driving growth in the country's rapidly expanding digital economy [3].

Genius Wong, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services at Tata Communications, stated, "By building a tailored network solution, we are ushering in an AI era in India, reinforcing our position as the long-term partner of choice for global technology leaders" [1].

The project marks one of India's largest ever network deployments by Tata Communications in terms of size, scale, and bandwidth, with a capacity of 7.2 Tbps and a cable length of 18,000 km [2]. This network will connect AWS infrastructure in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai through a comprehensive, national long-haul network, creating a powerful infrastructure backbone for AI and ML workloads across India [1].
