Taming the X12 856 message in SAP Integration Advisor

SAP Integration Advisor struggles to correctly order HL segments in X12 856 messages according to packaging hierarchy and determine hierarchical ID numbers. A custom post-processing XSLT script is required to achieve the correct mapping. The script sorts HL groups by hierarchical order, ensures unique continuous numbers and parent references, and removes duplicate packages. The solution involves creating a hierarchical structure with ShipNoticeRequest as the root, ShipNoticePortion as orders, Packaging as packs, and ShipNoticeItem as items. The HL segments are qualified with Hierarchical Level Codes to distinguish hierarchy levels.
