Swachh Survekshan Awards 2025: Five AP Municipal Corporations Win Big

Five municipal corporations in Andhra Pradesh won Swachh Survekshan Awards 2025. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (over 10 lakh population), Guntur Municipal Corporation (3-10 lakh population), Tirupati (50,000-3 lakh population), Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (Special Category), and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (State Level) received the awards. The minister will receive the awards from President Droupadi Murmu on July 17. Winning the awards is a matter of pride, showing the success of the Swachh Andhra Movement.

Five municipal corporations in Andhra Pradesh have won the prestigious Swachh Survekshan Awards 2025, recognizing their significant contributions to urban cleanliness and waste management. The awards, announced on Saturday, were received by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC), Tirupati, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation. These victories underscore the success of the Swachh Andhra Movement.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, with a population over 10 lakh, Guntur Municipal Corporation, with a population between 3 to 10 lakh, and Tirupati, with a population between 50,000 to 3 lakh, were awarded for their efforts in maintaining cleanliness in their respective cities. Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation received Ministerial Awards in the Special Category and State Level categories, respectively.

The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on July 17. The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, expressed pride in the achievements and commended the officials and sanitary workers for their dedication. Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram also congratulated the winners, noting that the awards reflect the positive impact of the Swachh Andhra Movement.

The Swachh Survekshan Awards, initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, recognize and reward urban local bodies for their efforts in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. The awards are based on various parameters, including solid waste management, sanitation, and public health.
