Strategy's $1.99B Bitcoin Buy: 20,356 BTC at $97,514
Strategy, a leading technology company, has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market by acquiring 20,356 Bitcoins at an average price of $97,514. This strategic acquisition, totaling approximately $1.99 billion, has resulted in a Bitcoin yield of 6.9% year-to-date in 2025. As of February 23, 2025, Strategy's Bitcoin holdings stand at 499,096 BTC, acquired for around $33.1 billion at an average price of $66,357 per Bitcoin.
In a separate development, Strategy has completed a $2 billion offering of convertible notes at 0% coupon and a 35% premium. The implied strike price for these notes is approximately $433.43. The proceeds from this offering will be used to fund further Bitcoin acquisitions and general corporate purposes, reinforcing Strategy's commitment to its Bitcoin treasury strategy and driving digital innovation.
Michael Saylor, the CEO of Strategy, has been a vocal advocate for Bitcoin and its potential as a strategic reserve for governments. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Saylor suggested that the U.S. government should acquire 20% of Bitcoin's total supply to create a strategic reserve. This would require an investment of around $392 billion at current prices. While lawmakers are considering a smaller-scale approach, Saylor's vision for national adoption signals strong long-term confidence in Bitcoin's future.
Saylor recently met with El Salvador's pro-Bitcoin president, Nayib Bukele, to discuss Bitcoin adoption. Although the details of their conversation remain unclear, speculation is rising about a potential collaboration. El Salvador has already positioned itself as a major Bitcoin player, accumulating 6,078 BTC—worth about $597 million—despite reversing BTC's legal tender status due to an IMF loan agreement.
Despite Strategy's continued Bitcoin accumulation and bullish outlook, Bitcoin's price remains below $100K, hovering around $95K. Factors such as rising inflation and ongoing tariff wars are keeping prices in check. However, Strategy's aggressive buying and Saylor's vision for national adoption signal strong long-term confidence in Bitcoin's future.
