Strategic Storage Trust VI, Inc. (SST VI) has announced the opening of its 14th facility in Canada and the 12th in the Greater Toronto Area. The new self-storage facility is located at 1480 Jane Street in Toronto and spans approximately 105,000 net rentable square feet, accommodating more than 1,200 climate-controlled storage units. The facility, developed in partnership with SmartCentres (TSX: SRU.UN), is strategically positioned on a 2.67-acre site with strong visibility along Jane Street, which averages over 40,000 vehicles daily [1].
The new facility is situated south of a recently opened FreshCo grocery store and within the heart of Toronto’s Mount Dennis, Brookhaven, and Weston neighborhoods. This location is well-positioned to serve a densely populated and growing urban area, with a three-mile radius experiencing rising demand for convenient, secure storage. Development plans for 2,000 new residential units within five miles of the site further underscore the growing need for storage solutions [1].
SST VI, a Maryland corporation qualified as a REIT for federal income tax purposes, focuses on investing in income-producing and growth self-storage facilities in the United States and Canada. As of June 3, 2025, SST VI has a portfolio of 13 operating properties in the United States and 11 properties in Canada, including joint venture interests and development properties [1].
