Stifel Financial Fails to Dismiss $133 Million Arbitration Award in Federal Court

Stifel Financial has lost an important round in its fight to prevent paying clients of a former star broker $133 million in damages and legal fees. A federal magistrate judge recommended denying Stifel's motion to vacate the award, the largest in FINRA history. Stifel has until Feb. 20 to file objections. The firm claims the arbitrator's bias was "unsupported by any evidence."
