Stellantis(STLA.US) invests billions in the US, reactivating factories and creating jobs to fulfill its commitments.
Stellantis NV(STLA.US) announced plans to further expand its business in the United States after Chairman John Elkann met with U.S. President Donald Trump. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis North America, said in an internal letter to U.S. employees that the company plans to move forward with the production of the next-generation Dodge Durango at its Detroit assembly plant. In addition, the company will reopen the Belvidere plant in 2027 to produce a new midsize pickup truck and recall about 1,500 union workers at its Illinois plant. Meanwhile, Stellantis will invest "additional technology and strong product improvements" in the Toledo assembly plant for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator, and increase the production of parts at the Toledo Machine Tool plant. The company plans to invest additional funds in the Kokomo plant to produce the GME-T4EVO engine starting in 2026, ensuring that the United States becomes the manufacturing base for this strategic power system, reversing its previous plan to transfer production overseas. It is worth noting that the UAW announced that after several months of urging, Stellantis has fulfilled its commitment in the 2023 contract negotiations to invest billions of dollars in U.S. workers. These measures not only show Stellantis' focus on the U.S. market but also its support for U.S. manufacturing and employment.
