Southern Co.: CFO Abramovitz to become SVP finance, treasurer
Atlanta, July 2, 2025 - Southern Company (NYSE: SO) has announced significant leadership changes within its Accounting, Finance, and Treasury organization. Effective July 31, Matt Kim will assume the role of senior vice president, comptroller, and chief accounting officer, while Aaron Abramovitz will become the senior vice president of finance and treasurer for the company.Matt Kim, who has been serving as the senior vice president of finance and treasurer, will now oversee the company's accounting policy and research, external financial reporting, payroll, and accounts payable functions, along with accounting controls and related processes [1]. Prior to this appointment, Kim has held various senior vice president positions within Southern Company's finance organization since 2022, with responsibilities including treasury, financial planning, business development, risk management, and trust finance. He previously served as vice president and controller of Southern Company Gas [1].
Aaron Abramovitz, who currently holds the position of executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer of Georgia Power Company, will take on the role of senior vice president of finance and treasurer for Southern Company. His responsibilities will include leading the treasury and financial planning teams, overseeing the company's financial plan and budget, and managing financing and cash operations. Abramovitz will also supervise investor relations activities, working closely with incoming CFO David Poroch and Director of Investor Relations Greg MacLeod [1]. With 23 years of experience across Southern Company and its subsidiaries' finance and project management organizations, Abramovitz brings a wealth of expertise to his new role [2].
