The product is aimed at expanding Sony's reach and competing with Nintendo for the portable gaming market, while also countering any similar portable hardware Microsoft (MSFT.US) may launch for its Xbox console, the people said. Notably, the people said Sony's portable device could take years to launch, and the company may still decide not to bring it to market.
