Sonic's Head of Strategy revealed that the company had decided not to renew its market-making contract with Wintermute, citing a shift towards more engaged market makers. The company is now in talks with other market makers who are willing to provide more comprehensive support, including active engagement with Sonic's DeFi ecosystem, community, applications, and developer team.

Wintermute's actions have not been without controversy. In January, the firm faced accusations of market manipulation following $20 million in transactions with Binance. More recently, Wintermute's token dump led to a 50% price drop for ACT, a project with which Wintermute had partnered just a few months prior. This incident sparked community outrage and raised questions about Wintermute's practices.

Despite these controversies, Sonic has not publicly expressed dissatisfaction with Wintermute's actions. Instead, the company provided a sympathetic reason for the token sales, stating that Wintermute needed to return loaned funds. Wintermute has not issued any public statements regarding the episode.
