Institutional interest in
(SOL) is on the rise, driven by a growing number of exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications seeking U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approval. As of recent data from Bloomberg Intelligence, 92 crypto ETFs, including those targeting Solana and , are under review, with many facing final approval deadlines in October 2025. Among these, Solana leads with eight pending applications, followed closely by XRP with seven. Analysts, including James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas, have highlighted the accelerating pace of ETF submissions and the potential for these instruments to inject significant capital into the altcoin market, potentially triggering a broader "altseason" rally [1].Canary Capital’s recent filing for an American-made ETF further underscores the momentum around Solana. The proposed fund includes Solana as part of a basket emphasizing innovation and U.S.-based blockchain infrastructure. This move aligns with broader institutional interest in structured exposure to Solana, which has seen heightened activity from firms such as Grayscale and 21Shares, both of which are pursuing
staking ETFs while also considering Solana-related products. Regulatory clarity on liquid staking has added to the appeal, with the SEC indicating that such operations fall outside its direct jurisdiction, potentially easing the path for ETF approvals [1].The institutional case for Solana is further strengthened by its on-chain staking dynamics. On-chain data reveals that 67% of Solana’s total supply is currently staked, significantly higher than Ethereum’s staking rate of 30%. This is complemented by a baseline staking reward of 6.6%, well above Ethereum’s 2.8% annual percentage yield (APY) via Lido. Solana’s staking model also offers no minimum staking requirements and faster unlock periods of 2–3 days, making it more accessible and flexible for institutional investors [4]. Public companies have already accumulated substantial positions in Solana, with institutional capital drawn to its superior yield and growing adoption in real-world applications [1].
Crypto analysts have projected potential price targets for Solana based on historical patterns observed in Ethereum's market cap expansion. Applying a 15x multiplier effect—where each $1 billion in institutional capital historically added $15 billion in valuation—analysts suggest that even modest inflows could significantly boost Solana’s price. For example, a $2.5 billion institutional investment could push Solana to $274, while a $5 billion inflow could send it to $335 [3]. These projections are contingent on favorable regulatory outcomes, including the approval of a Solana ETF, which could unlock access to retirement funds and brokerage accounts, positioning Solana for broader adoption [2].
Market dynamics and technical indicators also support a bullish outlook. Solana’s price recently surpassed $200, supported by whale accumulation and increased protocol buybacks. Technical analysis suggests that a breakout above the $210 resistance level could open the door to $250 and beyond, with the relative strength index (RSI) and moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicators showing strong upward momentum. However, traders are also monitoring the $200 level, as a sustained decline below it could trigger a pullback toward $176 [5]. The growing institutional interest, combined with Solana’s on-chain activity and real-world use cases, continues to attract capital, further solidifying its position in the institutionalization of crypto markets.
