Sogni AI Launches Global Hackathon with 25M SOGNI in Developer Grants

Sogni AI, a decentralized creative-AI platform, has launched a global virtual hackathon in partnership with Base and Virtuals Protocol, hosted by Blockchain@NTU, a student group at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The event, scheduled from August 16 to 26, 2025, invites students worldwide to build real-world applications using tools from these platforms, including the Sogni AI SDK, Base—a Layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase—and Virtuals Protocol, a network of AI agents [1].

The initiative offers over $4,500 in prizes and up to 25 million SOGNI tokens in developer grants, aimed at fostering innovation in decentralized AI and Web3 technologies [2]. The Sogni AI SDK is a key component of the hackathon, providing participants with tools for AI image generation and parallel rendering, supporting up to 512 simultaneous generations through a decentralized GPU network. This toolkit enables a wide range of creative and technical applications, such as generative bots, content management plugins, and full-stack creative solutions [3].

Mauvis Ledford, CTO of Sogni AI, emphasized the platform’s mission to build an open, accessible ecosystem for AI development. “We believe in equipping builders everywhere with the tools and infrastructure to easily bring their creative visions to life, a win not just for Sogni, but for all creators,” Ledford said. This aligns with Sogni’s broader strategy to incentivize innovation through financial and community support, encouraging developers to explore new use cases for AI and blockchain integration.

The hackathon is structured as a ten-day, self-paced virtual event, open to students globally who can participate individually or in teams of up to five. While virtual, the event offers continuous access to support channels and community resources, ensuring participants can leverage collaborative opportunities throughout the build period [1].

Sogni AI, founded in 2023, aims to empower global creators by returning control of generative tools, computational power, and ownership to individuals. The hackathon is part of its ongoing effort to attract and retain developers through grant programs, partnerships, and academic engagement. The 25 million SOGNI grant pool represents a substantial investment in the platform’s ecosystem, reflecting its commitment to decentralization and open-source development.

Applications for the hackathon are accepted via a one-page concept submission to dream@sogni.ai. Successful projects will receive access to rendering resources, community mentorship, and potential funding to scale their solutions.
