Snap(SNAP.US) partners with Google Cloud to enhance Snapchat chatbot features
1min read Snap (SNAP.US) and Google Cloud have expanded their strategic partnership to power the artificial intelligence chatbot for its social media platform Snapchat.Snapchat's My AI chatbot will leverage Google's Gemini technology on Vertex AI, particularly its understanding and processing capabilities for different types of information such as text, audio, images, videos, and code.Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said: "Snap is an early leader in helping people communicate in the digital world, and now it is at the forefront of using generative AI to build agents for its community to create new value. The Gemini model on Vertex AI now supports millions of multimodal interactions every day in the Snapchat app, enabling Snapchatters to better interact with My AI and with built-in accuracy and security."Snapchat first launched My AI last year using OpenAI's artificial intelligence models. Earlier this year, it began using Gemini's multimodal generative AI features. Snap said the shift has increased user engagement with My AI in the US by more than 2.5 times.
