The acquisition aims to scale adoption of the IDEX platform and standardize planning and execution processes in the industry.
Global energy technology company Schlumberger (SLB) has acquired Stimline Digital AS, a leading cloud-based software company specializing in well intervention. The acquisition aims to integrate the IDEX™ platform, powered by AI, into SLB's data environment and advanced intervention applications. This move is expected to provide operators with intelligent, data-driven workflows, enhancing consistency, efficiency, and performance in well interventions.
The IDEX platform offers a powerful visualization canvas and collaborative environment, enabling operators to optimize planning and execution of well intervention operations. By integrating the platform with SLB's technology stack, operators will gain the ability to create standardized digital workflows throughout the intervention process, from planning to real-time execution and post-job analysis.
Frederik Majkut, president of Reservoir Performance at SLB, commented on the acquisition, stating, "With 80% of global production expected to come from mature fields by 2030, innovative digital technologies are needed to improve the success rate and economics of interventions." The integration of the IDEX platform is part of SLB's strategy to standardize cumbersome planning and execution processes in the industry.
In addition to its well intervention capabilities, the IDEX platform will provide robust procedural adherence solutions for drilling, completions, and plug and abandonment. It will enable teams to collaborate on and review, approve, and publish digital well operations procedures with full traceability and control. The platform will also support the real-time execution tracking of these procedures, ensuring consistent operational performance and improved compliance.
At the time of the acquisition, SLB owns 100% of the share capital of Stimline Digital AS, including all business operations and rights to the IDEX platform and other intellectual property. The integration of the IDEX platform with SLB's technology stack is expected to provide significant benefits to operators, including enhanced planning and execution processes, improved consistency, and better performance.
SLB's acquisition of Stimline Digital is part of the company's broader strategy to drive innovation in the energy sector and support the global energy transition. The integration of the IDEX platform is expected to enhance SLB's capabilities in well intervention, a critical area for the industry.
