Slack Unveils AI Tools to Boost Productivity for Paid Users

Slack, a prominent office-communication tool, has unveiled a suite of new AI-driven tools designed to enhance productivity and save time for its paid users. These tools, which will be rolled out in phases, are intended to help users navigate their chats more efficiently and integrate with other connected apps.

The highest-paying tiers of Slack users will have early access to these new features. Among the tools available now or in the near future are an enterprise search functionality, language translation, meeting notes, message explanations, and AI writing assistance. Users on Enterprise+ plans can already utilize the new enterprise search feature, which allows them to search not only within Slack but also in connected systems such as Google Drive, Box, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce. Additionally, these users can access channel recaps and AI-generated meeting notes.

Business+ and higher tiers will benefit from a language-translation feature, while Pro and higher levels will be able to use AI to generate meeting notes from Huddle conversations. AI-assisted message explanations will help users understand project names, internal tools, and other company-specific terminology, ensuring they don't get lost in long threads. AI writing assistance will be integrated into Slack Canvas, enabling users to generate and assign action items, refine raw meeting notes, and create FAQs.

Slack, owned by Salesforce, has been a strong advocate for AI for years. The company claims that the summary feature alone will save the average user a significant amount of time that would otherwise be spent scrolling through threads.
