SK Planet, South Korea's second-largest listed company and part of the SK Group, has announced its purchase of MOCA Coin (MOCA) on the open market to integrate Moca Network's decentralized identity infrastructure across its ecosystem[1]. The initiative aims to introduce enterprise-grade decentralized identity solutions, leveraging zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology and privacy-preserving verification for SK Planet's 28 million users and 95,000 merchant partners[2]. This move aligns with the company's strategy to enhance user data ownership and interoperability while addressing global privacy standards[3].
The integration of Moca Network's AIR Account and AIR Identity tools will enable SK Planet to verify users' private data with explicit consent, ensuring data remains under user control. Merchant partners will also benefit, as they can request and validate user information securely without exposing sensitive details[1]. User data generated on SK Planet's platforms will be interoperable with other AIR Kit partners, creating a privacy-preserving, cross-platform identity verification system[3].
Kyosu Kim, SK Planet's chief business officer, emphasized the strategic value of the partnership: "By leveraging AIR Kit and AIR Wallet, we can expand the benefits of OKI Club and reward users with MOCA Coin while giving them greater control over their data. This is a strategic step forward in aligning with global standards for user privacy and digital identity"[1]. Kenneth Shek, project lead of Moca Network, noted that SK Planet's adoption of ZKP technology and enterprise-scale decentralized identity infrastructure marks a milestone in returning data ownership to users[2].
The initiative builds on the successful launch of OKI Club, SK Planet's loyalty program integrated with AIR Wallet in February 2025. Future plans include embedding AIR Identity to enable users to verify their identities across platforms, earn rewards, and manage tokens via functionalities like staking and swaps[1]. This expansion underscores the growing corporate interest in decentralized identity solutions, positioning MOCA Coin as a utility token for real-world commerce and user engagement[2].
Moca Network, developed by Animoca Brands, is constructing a chain-agnostic decentralized identity network with over 700 million addressable users across its ecosystem. The network's AIR Kit suite, including tools like AIR Account and AIR Wallet, facilitates verifiable credentials and secure authentication without compromising privacy[3]. By integrating these tools, SK Planet is demonstrating how large consumer platforms can balance privacy with utility, a model Moca Network describes as a "global interoperable identity layer"[1].
The partnership highlights the scalability of decentralized identity infrastructure in Web2-to-Web3 transitions. Unlike speculative token integrations, MOCA Coin's role in SK Planet's ecosystem is functional, incentivizing user participation, powering reward mechanisms, and supporting token-native actions[2]. This real-world application contrasts with abstract use cases, offering a blueprint for enterprises seeking to adopt Web3 frameworks without overhauling existing systems[2].
As Moca Network's infrastructure gains traction, the collaboration with SK Planet validates its potential for enterprise adoption. With 570+ portfolio companies and a focus on digital property rights, Animoca Brands' ecosystem provides a fertile ground for decentralized identity innovation[3]. The integration of ZKP and chain-agnostic tools further positions Moca Network as a leader in addressing fragmented identity systems, which remain a critical challenge in both Web2 and Web3 environments.
