Sif's Revenue Almost Doubled-Now Comes the Hard Part: A EUR 40 Million 2027 Shift

H1 2026 recovery was real, but the EUR 40 million shift changed the story
Sif's first half showed a genuine operating recovery: contribution increased by 67% to €135 million and adjusted EBITDA rose to €43 million. But the headline mix also created a new problem for sentiment. Management said it shifted EUR 40 million of revenue into 2027, while first-half revenue was still reduced by EUR 19 million of liquidated damages. The half-year looks stronger than the message investors will start focusing on for 2027.

That tension matters because the shares are near the lower end of its 52-week range. In that setup, investors often weigh bad news more heavily than good news, especially when the improvement involves a timing deferral rather than immediate cash.
What matters more now: demand worries or workforce management?
The operating improvement is hard to dismiss. Sif produced 101 monopiles in the first half and is running at a steady 4 to 5 monopiles per week. The real debate is whether investors will reward that progress once management highlights a difficult 2027-2028 market.
Bulls need evidence that the revenue shift was a strategic choice to protect capacity and know-how. Bears can anchor on the company's warning about low demand for monopile production in 2027 and 2028. Until pipeline evidence hardens, the market is more likely to react to the timing shock than to credit the operational fix.
The EUR 40 million move was a timing decision, not just an accounting one
Why management delayed revenue into 2027
Sif said it shifted EUR 40 million of revenue into next year to help keep skilled workers through a weaker market phase. That matters because the value of the newly ramped factory depends on retaining the team that learned to run it.
The reported 2026 EBITDA target also still stood at EUR 95 million after the shift. In practical terms, management chose to absorb more of the weakness in 2026 rather than risk the workforce and the operating rhythm it had just rebuilt.
The exclusive project is the key bridge into 2027
The more important question is what could fill the 2027 gap. Sif said the exclusive negotiation project has reached a solid basis to move toward a final investment decision, with manufacturing targeted for May to August 2027. The company also said that timing could support full capacity utilization across both sites for approximately three quarters.
If that project starts on time, the 2027 bridge looks more like a planned transition than a distress signal. If it slips or shrinks, the retention decision will look less strategic and more like damage control.
What the market needs to see from here
Sentiment is still fragile. SIF trades near the lower end of its 52-week range, with EPS (LTM) of -1.23, volatility of 38.3% over the last 30 days, revenue still hit by EUR 19 million of liquidated damages, and the business still exploring alternative funding options in the second half of 2026.
What would improve the setup
The next few catalysts matter more than the half-year recovery itself:
- concrete progress on the exclusive project and confirmation that the manufacturing window holds
- evidence that tenders are converting into backlog for 2028-2029 production
- updates on funding and balance-sheet support that reduce cash-pressure concerns
- continued production discipline after the first-half ramp
If those signals hold, the EUR 40 million shift is more likely to be viewed as discipline. If they weaken, the market is more likely to focus on the timing gap and the tougher 2027-2028 outlook.
