Siemens, the German technology giant, has announced the appointment of
executive Vashi Philomin to the newly created role of Head of Data and Artificial Intelligence. This move marks Siemens' latest step in advancing its development of AI products and applications, such as industrial co-drivers.Siemens has long been committed to transforming itself into a tech-centric company, viewing AI and industrial software as critical components of its future. In 2023, the company unveiled a partnership with
aimed at leveraging AI to enhance productivity and human-machine collaboration across manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare sectors. This project seeks to create AI co-drivers to assist customer companies’ employees in designing new products, organizing production, and maintenance tasks.Welcoming Philomin, Siemens expressed excitement over his extensive experience in machine learning and industrial-grade AI applications acquired at Amazon. Philomin will report to Peter Körte, a member of Siemens’ managing board who also serves as the company's Chief Technology and Strategy Officer.
"With his outstanding AI expertise and proven leadership in developing transformative technologies, he will make a decisive contribution to further expanding our data and AI capabilities," Körte stated. Philomin’s appointment highlights Siemens' focused effort to harness AI's potential in revolutionizing industrial processes.
