DHL has integrated its eCommerce and Express services into Shopify, expanding international shipping options for US merchants. The partnership offers cost-effective solutions for small businesses, including Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) services, and provides access to DHL's Parcel International Direct, Parcel International Standard, and Express Worldwide services. This integration aims to simplify customs processes and enhance the customer experience for Shopify merchants looking to expand into global markets.
DHL has announced a significant expansion of its international shipping services, integrating DHL eCommerce and DHL Express services directly into Shopify. This move aims to provide U.S.-based merchants with cost-effective and reliable cross-border shipping solutions, previously available only to enterprise customers. The integration offers Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) services, allowing merchants to choose how duties and taxes are handled.
The partnership includes access to DHL eCommerce's Parcel International Direct and Parcel International Standard services, as well as DHL Express Worldwide. Parcel International Direct offers affordable, range-definite delivery to 37 key e-commerce markets, with transit times of 5-12 business days for most destinations. This service supports Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) and includes high visibility end-to-end tracking, estimated delivery date (EDD), and shipment value protection of up to $100. Parcel International Standard, on the other hand, delivers to over 220 countries and territories, supports Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), and offers full tracking and shipment value protection of up to $100.
For merchants needing expedited delivery, DHL Express Worldwide offers time-definite, door-to-door shipping to over 220 countries and territories, typically within 1-3 business days. This service includes customs clearance enabled through DHL Paperless Trade®, real-time tracking, and proof of delivery with electronic signatures.
"We believe that a great shipping experience doesn't have to be expensive," said Scott Ashbaugh, CEO of DHL eCommerce, Americas. "Until now, DHL eCommerce's cost-optimized international network has primarily served enterprise-scale savvy shippers. Through the Shopify partnership, we're empowering small merchants and newcomers selling abroad access to the industry's most cost-effective shipping option."
Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S., added, "Speed, reliability, and transparency are essential in international shipping. Through this partnership with Shopify, we're providing U.S. businesses with direct access to our global network and customs expertise—so they can grow faster and deliver a seamless, trusted experience to customers around the world."
The DHL integration is currently available on Shopify for merchants in the U.S. and Germany, with plans to expand into Canada in September of this year, and additional markets throughout 2025 and 2026.
