The
(SHIB) community is grappling with a leadership crisis as increasing criticism mounts against Shytoshi , the project’s founder and current leader. Stakeholders are accusing Kusama of poor communication and failing to deliver on key promises, with calls for a return to the original vision of SHIB’s mysterious creator, Ryoshi. This growing discontent coincides with the upcoming first-ever presidential election for the Inu ecosystem, which Kusama has described as a crucial step toward decentralization [1].Public criticism from community members highlights concerns over Kusama’s leadership style, with one stakeholder under the handle WOOF expressing frustration over the lack of strategic market awareness. The stakeholder emphasized the need for new leaders who can "keenly sense market trends and respond with sharp strategies," and who are bold enough to address every comment from the community [1]. Another stakeholder from Germany listed several unmet objectives, including onboarding one billion
users, expanding the network’s validator set to 100, and improving marketing for the BONE token. The user labeled this a "leadership failure" and urged the team to return to the roadmap laid out by Ryoshi [1].Kusama has framed the election as a pivotal moment in the project’s evolution, involving the appointment of an interim president and the establishment of governance councils for each of the Shiba Inu decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The elected officials will be responsible for overseeing the multibillion-dollar token economy, as well as administrative and technical changes within the ecosystem [1]. While any community member can run for the interim president role, only holders of SHIB, BONE, TREAT, or LEASH tokens are eligible to vote, with each token representing one vote [1].
The leadership debate underscores a broader struggle within the SHIB community to reconcile its original vision with the pressures of growth and governance. With the election approaching, stakeholders are demanding greater transparency and accountability, and a renewed focus on fulfilling the ambitious goals set forth by SHIB’s creators [1].
