Seymour Community School District Switches to Propane-Powered School Buses

Seymour Community School District unveiled a fleet of 20 propane-powered school buses for the 2025/2026 school year in partnership with Kobussen Buses. The Blue Bird Vision Propane buses are equipped with a 7.3L V8 Ford engine and ROUSH CleanTech propane fuel system, reducing emissions by 95%. The district aims to provide eco-friendly transportation for students.

Seymour Community School District has announced the introduction of a fleet of 20 propane-powered school buses for the 2025/2026 school year. In partnership with Kobussen Buses, the district will operate Blue Bird Vision Propane buses equipped with a 7.3L V8 Ford engine and ROUSH CleanTech propane fuel system. This initiative aims to provide eco-friendly transportation for students while significantly reducing emissions.

The new buses, purchased from Blue Bird’s authorized dealer Wisconsin Bus Sales, will be fueled at a recently installed propane station located at Kobussen’s Seymour facility. Country Visions Cooperative will serve as the fuel provider for the first five years, with a locked-in rate of $1.20 per gallon of propane for the 2025-26 school year. The transition to propane-powered buses is part of the district’s commitment to safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly transportation.

The Blue Bird Vision Propane buses are designed to deliver exceptional performance while significantly reducing emissions. According to ROUSH CleanTech, propane autogas is a proven solution for school districts looking to lower their carbon footprint without compromising on performance or reliability. The buses will reduce smog-producing emissions, eliminate particulate matter, and lower nitrogen oxides by 95% compared to diesel buses.
