Security Firm Fined €140,000 Over Wage Disputes, Work License Revoked

Security firm BGS Security Ltd has been found to have breached national pay regulations for the sector, resulting in a total of €140,000 in awards against the company in the past 18 months. The firm's licence to operate static security guards was revoked by the Private Security Authority in June this year. An adjudicator awarded €30,000 to security officer Kipkorir Francis Kiptoo for non-payment of wages and €26,500 in compensation for noncompliance with the employment regulation order. The company has been accused of "blatant flouting" of pay rules.
