SEC Unveils Crypto Task Force: Peirce Leads Charge on Digital Asset Regulation

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has introduced the members of its newly formed Crypto Task Force, led by Commissioner Hester Peirce. The task force, established to guide the commission on regulatory issues concerning digital assets, comprises experts from various sectors of the SEC, including legal, policy, and operational areas.

Peirce emphasized the group's dedication to addressing intricate regulatory issues within the cryptocurrency domain. "The Crypto Task Force exhibits deep expertise and an enthusiastic commitment to identifying, with the help of other talented staff across the Commission and interested members of the public, workable solutions to difficult crypto regulatory problems," she stated in the press release.

The leadership team includes Richard Gabbert as Chief of Staff, Michael Selig as Chief Counsel, Taylor Asher as Chief Policy Advisor, and Sumeera Younis as Chief of Operations. Supporting their efforts are Senior Advisors Landon Zinda, Donald Battle, Bernard Nolan, Laura Powell, Veronica Reynolds, Christopher Rice, Mark Sater, Andrew Schoeffler, Frank Sensenbrenner, and Robert Teply.

The task force aims to create, enhance, and refine disclosure standards while ensuring enforcement efforts remain focused and effective. In addition to these efforts, the Crypto Task Force will host a series of public roundtable talks, titled "Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity." The initial event, "How We Got Here and How We Get Out – Defining Security Status," is scheduled for March 21.

Commissioner Peirce stressed that the roundtables will be a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration, aligning with President Trump's vision to foster crypto innovation and establish America as the global leader in the digital asset space.
