SEC's Peirce Seeks Public Input on Crypto Clarity
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce has called upon the public to share their opinions on key aspects of crypto clarity. In a recent statement, the longest-serving commissioner on the board emphasized the importance of public feedback in establishing clear rules for the crypto industry.
Peirce, who leads the SEC's newly formed Crypto Task Force, is currently working on questions related to the security status, public offerings, custody, and secondary market trading of crypto assets. The task force is also addressing issues such as crypto lending, listing applications for crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs), tokenized securities, and the proposed safe harbor policy that would exempt digital assets from the Securities Act's registration requirements for a limited time during project development.
The task force is additionally identifying categories of cryptocurrencies and transactions that fall outside the SEC's jurisdiction, as well as accepting inputs on a proposal to create a micro-innovation sandbox for small-scale projects. Peirce encourages the public to provide feedback on these matters to assist the task force in developing a clear regulatory framework for crypto.
The SEC has provided a written submission form and a meeting request form on its website for the public to share their input on these and other related matters. The task force is actively considering solutions to the issues presented and welcomes public input to aid in the process.
