"Satoshi's Bitcoin Fortune Tops Gates' Wealth: Coinbase Director Unveils Link to Kraken"
In a recent revelation, Coinbase director Conor Grogan has shed light on the total Bitcoin holdings of Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of the world's leading cryptocurrency. Grogan's findings suggest that Satoshi's Bitcoin stash, when converted to fiat currency, surpasses the wealth of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Intriguingly, Grogan's investigation also hints at a potential connection between Satoshi's true identity and Kraken, one of the leading U.S. cryptocurrency exchanges. This revelation comes on the heels of HBO's recent suggestion that Peter Todd could be Satoshi.
Grogan shared his findings on Twitter, detailing a set of addresses that exhibit the Patoshi Mining Pattern, which he believes indicates a strong, though not definitive, link to Satoshi. He discovered that these addresses transacted 24 times, mostly with a Bitcoin address labeled "1PYYj." The 1PYYj address also received BTC from CaVirtEx, a Canadian-based exchange acquired by Kraken in 2016.
Based on this information, Grogan speculates that former Kraken CEO Jesse Powell may be aware of Satoshi's true identity through CaVirtEx's know-your-customer (KYC) records. Grogan urged Powell to delete any such information, stating, "My advice to him would be to delete the data." Kraken's official Twitter account responded to Grogan's post with the message, "We are all Satoshi," but Powell has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
The 1PYYj address is connected to an address beginning with "12ib," one of Bitcoin's biggest active addresses, currently owning roughly $3 billion worth of BTC. Grogan believes this lends credence to the link that 1PYYj was associated with Satoshi or a very early adopter/contributor.
Grogan's analysis also suggests that Satoshi's last documented on-chain Bitcoin transaction occurred in 2014, approximately four years after he disappeared from public forums. Based on the Patoshi mining pattern, Grogan estimates that Satoshi currently owns 1.096 million BTC, worth around $108 billion at current market prices. This makes Satoshi far richer than Microsoft's Bill Gates, whose net worth is around $1
