SAP has introduced the Reporting Scope and Data Collection feature in Sustainability Control Tower (SCT) to address challenges with manual sustainability data collection. The feature enables organizations to define relevant metrics, configure data collection, guide users through a structured workflow, track and manage data collection runs, and ensure data capture, approval, and storage in a traceable manner.

SAP has introduced a significant enhancement to its Sustainability Control Tower (SCT) with the Reporting Scope and Data Collection feature. This new feature addresses the challenges faced by organizations when manually collecting sustainability data, aiming to improve data quality, traceability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The feature provides an integrated, workflow-based solution that guides users through the data collection process, ensuring relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are captured and facilitating collaboration between central and local teams.

The Reporting Scope and Data Collection feature enables organizations to define which sustainability metrics are relevant for reporting, configure how data should be collected, and assign responsibilities for data entry and approval. It also supports structured, form-based workflows for data entry, review, and approval, ensuring that data is captured, approved, and stored in a traceable manner. This approach streamlines the sustainability data collection process, enhances data quality, and supports compliance with evolving regulatory standards.

The feature currently supports quantitative metrics and measures for sustainability reporting. SAP plans to include qualitative metrics and basic custom metrics, as well as additional data entry methods, plausibility checks, multi-step approvals, and email notifications in future iterations, based on customer feedback.
