The Sandbox Co-Founders Highlight Web3 Gaming Growth, Wallet Interoperability
Arthur Madrid, the co-founder and CEO of The Sandbox, a decentralized metaverse and gaming platform, emphasized that wallet interoperability remains a key vision for Web3 gaming. In an interview at the Crypto Polo event in Dubai, Madrid and Sebastien Borget, the co-founder and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, discussed the future of Web3 gaming. Madrid highlighted that the ultimate goal is to enable players to use a single wallet to access multiple games, combining the utilities of all collected and earned items across different platforms. This concept of seamless interoperability is seen as an exciting development for Web3 gaming enthusiasts.
Despite a general market slowdown, Madrid noted that the Web3 gaming space continues to thrive. He attributed this to the increasing accessibility of tools and infrastructure necessary for game creation. The executive pointed out that the number of games developed on various platforms over the past two years has been impressive, indicating a robust and growing industry. Madrid also mentioned the emergence of a new generation of programmers and tools, which are paving the way for innovative gameplay experiences. He believes that the space is on the cusp of a breakthrough, awaiting a single game that could catalyze broader adoption of Web3 technology in gaming.
Borget, on the other hand, highlighted a shift in the utility of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within the industry. He observed that the focus has moved from using NFTs primarily for fundraising and profile pictures to more practical and valuable use cases. This shift is driven by consumer demand for greater utility from their digital assets. Borget emphasized that creators and developers must focus on adding more value to their NFTs to meet this demand. At The Sandbox, there is a continued high demand for virtual land, avatars, and other NFT collections, such as Jurassic World, due to their immediate usability across the game.
