Samsung is reportedly planning a significant shake-up of its flagship Galaxy S-series next year. The Galaxy S26 lineup, expected in 2026, could include a new "Galaxy S26 Pro" model while dropping the Plus variant. The GSMA database also lists the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra, but not a Galaxy S26 Plus. The new lineup may also feature improved charging speeds and a larger battery for the Ultra model.
Samsung is reportedly planning a significant shake-up of its flagship Galaxy S-series for 2026. The Galaxy S26 lineup is expected to include a new "Galaxy S26 Pro" model, potentially replacing the Plus variant. This change is supported by a recent GSMA database listing that includes the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra, but not a Galaxy S26 Plus [2].
The new lineup may also feature improved charging speeds and a larger battery for the Ultra model. A leak from the One UI 8.5 firmware revealed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 60W fast charging, a significant increase from the current 45W charging speed of the Galaxy S25 Ultra [3]. The Ultra model is also expected to retain a 5,000mAh battery, but with the faster charging speed, users can expect quicker recharging times.
Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to have a thinner design, measuring about 7.x millimeters thick, and a larger 6.9-inch display with new screen technology called CoE depolarizer and third-generation anti-reflective glass [1]. The camera system is also expected to receive upgrades, including a new HP2 (2026) sensor with a larger aperture and a 3x zoom sensor with a larger aperture for the 5x telephoto lens.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite2 for Galaxy processor, running at 4.74GHz, or the Exynos 2600 processor for some regions. The phone will run on One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, bringing new features and improvements to provide the next level of Galaxy experience [1].
Samsung has not confirmed any details about the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, and the information about the new lineup should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, the changes in naming and structure suggest that Samsung is updating its flagship series to better compete in the market.
