Salem Media Group has sold their remaining radio stations and digital assets in Honolulu, Hawaii to Malama Media Group. Malama plans to keep the stations in their current formats. Salem CEO David Santrella expressed his support for the sale, stating that the buyer shares the same passion for the formats. Malama CEO Monroe Greer expressed his commitment to serving the Hawaiian community and reflecting Christ's love in all they do. The sale is set to close once the FCC grants final approval.

The Honolulu, Hawaii-based radio market is witnessing a significant change as Salem Media Group, a prominent media company specializing in Christian and conservative talk programming, sells its remaining stations and digital assets to Malama Media Group [1]. The transaction, which is expected to close upon receiving final approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), marks Salem's exit from the Hawaiian market.

According to the information disclosed, Malama Media Group will acquire Salem's radio stations and digital assets in Honolulu, including KHVH-AM and K107.7-FM. Malama plans to maintain the current formats on these stations, ensuring continuity for listeners. Salem Media Group's CEO, David Santrella, expressed his support for the sale, stating that "Malama shares our passion for the formats" [1]. Malama's CEO, Monroe Greer, expressed a commitment to serving the Hawaiian community and reflecting Christ's love in all they do [1].

The sale is not an isolated event for Salem Media Group. Over the past year, the company has been actively engaged in financial and strategic transactions, including the sale of its Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) stations to Educational Media Foundation (EMF) [1]. Salem's exit from the CCM format follows the sale of its Nashville and Honolulu Fish signals to EMF earlier in the year [1].

Edward G. Atsinger, Salem's Executive Chairman and co-founder, expressed his delight with the transaction, stating that EMF's ability and dedication to creating and distributing high-quality Christian content aligns with Salem's mission [1]. In line with Salem's commitment to financial security, the company repurchased $159.4 million of its debt in another recent move [1].

As Salem exits the Hawaiian market, it continues to operate its Christian Teaching and Talk, Conservative News Talk, and various other formats across the country.
