"Safe, Bybit Spar Over Hack Blame"
In a recent social media post, Safe investor HasuGOTU-- sparked a controversy by arguing that the recent Bybit hack was not solely due to a vulnerability in Safe's frontend, but also a result of Bybit's insufficient infrastructure. Hasu suggested that Bybit should have detected such a simple hack, especially when transferring funds exceeding 1 billion USD. He criticized the blame placed on Safe, stating that it would be learning the wrong lesson.
Wintermute founder wishfulcynic.eth responded to Hasu's remarks, accusing them of being somewhat misleading and distorting facts. In a series of comments, Hasu defended his position, stating that assessing Safe's fault in the incident was a difficult question to answer. He argued that Safe provided a solution through its centralized frontend but should not rely solely on it. Hasu also emphasized the importance of Safe collaborating with large fund clients for security education and learning from the compromise of Safe developer devices.
