TTI Outdoor Power Equipment has issued a recall of approximately 780,000 Ryobi Electric Pressure Washers sold across major retailers in the United States and Canada following reports of the product's capacitor overheating and potentially bursting, posing serious risks of injury to consumers. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affects two specific models, RY142300 and RY142711VNM, which were distributed between July 2017 and June 2024.

The products' defect involves the capacitors overheating to the point of bursting, leading to forceful ejection of parts, creating a significant impact hazard to users and bystanders. To date, there have been 135 reports of this overheating issue, with 41 cases of explosions leading to 32 recorded injuries. The injuries range from fractures to fingers, hands, faces, and eyes, although specifics on the injury severity remain undisclosed.
