Roblox Holdings Inc. reported a significant milestone on Thursday, revealing that it now averages over 100 million daily users, with a recent quarter showing 111.8 million daily active users—an increase of 41% year-over-year. The surge in user engagement is attributed to viral games such as “Grow a Garden,” which saw record simultaneous player counts. Total playtime for the quarter reached 27.4 billion hours, reflecting a 58% year-over-year increase in engagement [1].
The company raised its annual bookings guidance for fiscal year 2025 to between $5.87 billion and $5.97 billion, up from a previous range of $5.29 billion to $5.36 billion. This forecast reflects strong demand across its platform and confidence in its expansion into non-gaming monetization strategies, including e-commerce, social spaces, and ad placements. For the third quarter,
expects bookings to reach $1.59 billion to $1.64 billion, surpassing the $1.35 billion consensus forecast. In the June quarter, bookings reached $1.44 billion, exceeding market expectations of $1.24 billion [2].The platform’s financial success is mirrored in its stock performance, with shares surging more than 100% year-to-date in 2025. This strong return has outpaced many of its peers in the gaming sector. Investors appear to favor the company’s strategic diversification and its ability to attract and retain a broad user base across multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs [3].
In addition to user growth and revenue expansion, Roblox introduced a new age-verification system for its chat features in June. The system, powered by identity verification firm Persona, is part of the company’s effort to build trust in its communication tools and comply with emerging state laws requiring age checks for app users. The feature, called “trusted connections,” is designed to unlock advanced chat functions for users aged 13 and older. This move aligns with similar initiatives in other app stores, although some platforms, such as
and Google, have resisted such mandates, preferring to leave verification to individual apps [4].The transformation of Roblox from a sandbox-style creation platform into a commercial ecosystem has also been highlighted by growing interest in its in-game content. A 19-year-old developer recently sold a soccer-themed game on the Roblox marketplace for over $3 million, demonstrating the platform’s potential for monetization. The game, which reached over one million concurrent players, was acquired by Do Big Studios, a company with multiple popular franchises on the platform. Analytics firm Naavik noted that seven of the top 15 highest-earning games on Roblox were bought by external companies in June, signaling a shift in how the platform’s ecosystem is evolving [5].
As Roblox continues to refine its discovery and search tools, it is increasingly focusing on creating a sustainable environment for developers and users alike. The company’s newly appointed CFO, Naveen Chopra, emphasized that the platform’s ability to surface high-performing games is critical to maintaining user interest and driving long-term growth [6].
